Cookies

When you accept or reject analytics, the site stores that choice in your browser so the banner does not come back on every page. It is one entry in local storage, set by this site, holding your answer, the date you gave it and the version of the notice you answered. It is not a cookie and it is not sent anywhere. It stays until you clear your browser storage or change your choice.

If you accept, the site loads Google Analytics 4, which sets the following cookies on this domain:

• _ga, which tells one visitor apart from another. It lasts up to two years.
• _ga_ followed by the property id, which keeps the state of the current visit. It lasts up to two years.

These are set only after you accept. Before the page loads anything from Google, it declares all four of Google’s consent categories denied. Those are analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation. Accepting grants the first of those and only the first. The other three stay denied whatever you answer, so this site never uses Google Analytics for advertising.

Where Google Analytics is running, it records a page view when a page loads and each time you move to another one, and one event when the contact form is sent successfully. That event carries no information about you and none of what you wrote. It records only that an enquiry went through. Your IP address is anonymised before Google stores it.

If you reject, or never answer, no Google cookie is set and nothing is sent to Google at all.

Separately from analytics, the site uses Vercel Speed Insights, which times how long pages take to appear. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not identify you, so it is not something you are asked to consent to.

Withdrawing consent stops analytics from that moment. It does not remove cookies Google has already set; you can clear those from your browser settings.
